A while back, Chris emailed us and said that he wanted us to help him play a joke on his new bride.  It was before we had finished editing their wedding trailer, and Chris suggested creating an “alternative” version of the trailer once it was finished – by swapping out the song we intended to use – to a song he knew Melissa HATED.  Let’s just say that Chris and Melissa are two of the most playful people we know.

Sooooo… of course we thought this would be hilarious – as long as Chris made sure to let Melissa know in the end that this was ALL his idea.  For the “real” version of the trailer, the song we chose to edit to was Mutemath’s ‘Goodbye’ (sidenote: I drove the lead singer of Mutemath and his band at the time – Earthsuit – around metro Detroit for the day during my time at college!)

And for the “fake” video we used the song per Chris’s suggestion, ‘Don’t be Tardy for the Party’ by Kim Zolciak.

The crazy thing is, some of the cuts actually line up with the Tardy for the Party song – totally crazy since we just dropped the song in and didn’t try lining anything up.

Melissa was so sweet in her email to me telling me that she liked it. But when she found out that it was a joke, I’m not sure if she wanted to hurt Chris or myself more! Good times.

Perhaps you understand better how music can really dictate the look and feel of a video.

Sunshine is beautiful. Rain on a wedding day is good luck. Optimism is priceless.

The Inn at St. John’s is where the party took place – but BEFORE the reception, Kara and Andrew were married at a unique and intimate wine bar in Ann Arbor called Vinology. We loved being with these two and their families ‘n friends.

We also got to work with one of our favorite photogs – Aruna B. Thanks for letting us play with your lenses!

Lovett Hall was the scene for this party – and the amazing Scripps Mansion was the setting for the ceremony. Through thick and thin, blue skies, hot sun, cloudy skies, and POURING rain – this was a wedding to remember. Amanda and Rob have great hearts – it was so much fun being with them all day… they just kept smiling.

Lindsey Nartker of Lindsey Nartker Designs and her team did a FANTASTIC job or prepping for the rain – and dealing with it when it came. There were umbrellas being handed out the moment the first drop hit, and then LOTS of umbrellas being handed out as it started to pour. It was fun seeing her and her team work under the crazy weather conditions.

The rain did not dampen anyone’s spirits, and the ceremony continued on.

After the ceremony and a cocktail hour at Scripps, we moseyed on down to The Henry Ford in Dearborn where Lovett Hall had been decorated beautifully.

We’re looking forward to seeing the pics that Melissa Patterson and her team shot. They were fun to work alongside. It was also awesome seeing our friend Evis work like crazy to keep the sound happening during the storm… nice work, man!

It was such a fun day all around… my crew ROCKED it out with a Same Day Edit. Mike G., Eric, and John were unstoppable. Also props to Jamie for helping us out.

Congrats to Amanda and Rob… you guys are GREAT!

The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth was the perfect place for today’s wedding. We had a blast today putting together the same day edit for Becky and Rob. They were such a joy to be with. Besides the teeny bit of rain we got, the weather was PERFECT! We loved them, their families, and their crazy bridal party. They went out of their way to make us feel awesome and we totally appreciated it.

The Same Day Edit is a unique product that we offer in which we film all throughout the wedding day, we edit the footage, and at some point in the evening, we play the video that we’ve created – on the same day it was shot… hence the name: Same Day Edit.

St. John’s was decorated beautifully thanks to the awesome team from Emerald City Designs… Cheryl – you rock! Arising Images were the super rad photogs. Joy Ride provided the funky beats and Michael Jackson tunes (loved it).

I don’t remember a wedding where the bride and groom carried the party on their shoulders like this one. Becky and Rob had some crazy cool dance moves that I can only aspire to have one day. Congratulations, guys!

No one can tell me that they have the best job in the world until he/she gets to be with amazing people on their most special day — and go home with a paycheck. Yeah – that’s my job.

Jen and Ken were no exception… extremely sweet and generous… very loving and fun… as were their friends and family. This night ended for us with an amazing disco performance given by one of the groomsmen – coming soon to an Epic Motion blog near you.

Abby Rose and Tommy were the exceptional photogs for this awesome event at The Inn at St. John’s. There’s a sweet cameo of Tommy in one of the trailer shots.. see if you can spot him! Mary Ann Ross was their emcee and took care of spinning the fun tunes… she is fantastic!

Maria and Seth were married at the Ritz Carlton in Dearborn, Michigan. Both families and the ceremony were beautiful. We learned SO much about everyone – the toasts were really eloquent.. (this is an inside joke for anyone that was there.. hehe.)

We also had the opportunity to work alongside of husband and wife team Stacey and Hugh from Venture Wedding Photography based in West Bloomfield. I’ve worked with Stacey before and Andrea and I also had birthing class together with Stacey and Hugh.

Okay – to clarify, this is Maria and Tyler’s highlight reel… not just “my brother’s”.

What can I say? We had SO much fun at this wedding. The Epic Motion crew was in full effect – and I could only stand and watch since I had the great opportunity of being Tyler’s best man. I couldn’t stand it… during the photo session I begged John to hand the camera to me so I could at least get ONE shot for my bro.

We’ve shot at La Sala before and I will continue to say – I love the lighting they have there… it adds such a cool dimension to the vibe of the event.

Tyler and Maria have great musical taste and really helped us out on this one. AND their amazing vows helped carry their story… SO cool.

Tim from Mike Staff ROCKED the dance floor… he was a 10/10 as a DJ and an emcee… couldn’t have been better. And Shannon and Amy Williams were the photogs… their engagement book and their final prints were outstanding. Seriously.

Congrats, you two. You are loved greatly. May your love for each other always grow and may your love for others do the same… only great things will come from it.

Gorgeous couple… CUTE kids… The Townsend Hotel.. great vendors… all add up to make a sa-weet wedding day.

We had the opportunity to work with the famous Laurie Tennent, coordinator Lenne George, soon-to-be author Georges Mokebel, and the fabulous Gerych’s provided the beautiful flowers and decor.

I have a couple other little clips I want to post because there were so many great moments – but until then – you’ll have to enjoy their trailer. Their vows were beautiful.. they mixed traditional with their own – which is my FAVORITE because you get the best of both worlds… a little bit of tradition mixed with some heart = tears by everyone.
