Wedding Video and Videographers: What do people really think?

by Ryan on July 9, 2009

A few weeks ago, Eric and I hit the streets of Royal Oak, Michigan to hear what people had to say about wedding videographers and the wedding video industry. Some of the responses may come as a surprise… and then again – some may not.

We are constantly striving to educate people about wedding and event cinema. We believe that a wedding movie can be entertaining, moving, and down right enjoyable. Wedding videos don’t have to be cheesy, outdated, and embarrassing to show to friends and family.

We believe your story is beautiful and is worth telling. Contact us to find out more.

Most wedding videos I have seen fall into three camps:
1. “friend with a camcorder who will tape it for free”
2. documentary style with lots of tripods
3. creative faux-hawk types who capture the personalities and emotions along with the event

I didn’t know a lot about #3 prior to learning about your company…My conclusion: Any idiot can push the record button and aim the lens at the girl in the white dress, but a good photographer/videographer will let you go back to that time and feel again the way you felt in those moments.

(Disclaimer: Ryan filmed an engagement video for me that I won in a contest and it was very cool. http://www.epicmotion.com/blog/engagement-session/the-anti-recession-esession-giveaway-video-is-here/)

Hilarious! Especially the running-man and the “expert” who likes where the wedding biz is headed. Good stuff.
