The Love Story of Todd, Lissa, and the Kids

by Ryan on July 12, 2008

This is one of the most sad and beautiful stories that I know.

Andrea was looking for a nanny job a couple of years ago and through a friend, we met Todd. Todd had been married to Kristen and had two awesome little boys – Sam and Charlie.  Out of nowhere, Kristen had been diagnosed with severe cancer.  It was an uphill battle the family had to face for months until she passed away.

Needless to say, we were really thankful to have met Todd and the boys when we did.  We fell in love with them immediately.

We always wondered if Todd would find someone else.  The tragedy of losing your closest friend is something that is so hard to even think about… and then to try and comprehend “moving on” can be even harder.

Well, after a couple of years… in walks Lissa.  And Lissa’s kids.  And Lissa’s own story – similar to Todd’s.

This is an awesome story of God’s love and faithfulness.

PS. Today Todd and Lissa were married.  We love you guys and congratulations!

Simply amazing. Quite possibly the most meaningful story I’ve ever watched. This makes me so sad and happy all at once. Can’t wait to see the video!

I’ve always said we have the BEST job anyone could ask for. Who wouldn’t want to work for “clients” like this! Thank you for sharing; I will sleep much better tonight being reminded of God’s amazing gifts he always places in our lives. ma

Wow, I’ll admit…I was crying just a tad! What a great story. Really great job capturing it Ryan. I agree with Mary Anne Ross, you definitely got a pretty sweet job there at Epic Motion!

Ryan, what a beautiful story you captured! I knew your emotions ran deep when I told you my husband’s transplant story at Starbucks. Looking forward to you filming our daughter, Grace-Anne’s wedding! Gerry Seip

Ryan – this was beautifully done. When this part of the reception rolled around, I expected the piece to be good, but it was GREAT. Very, very moving, and most definitely a memorable part of the entire day. Trying to imagine the day w/o this piece definitely leaves me feeling like there would be a void somehow in the event. Well done, bro. And thanks again for referring us to Todd and LIssa. We really enjoyed shooting their wedding!!

Thank you for posting this to share. I am one of Kristen’s cousins and so thankful I was able to watch this- in tears and in laughter. It is a true testimony of God’s presence in our lives. Todd & Lissa- I truely pray God’s blessings and provision over your marriage, life together, and your family. Love&Prayers, Allison

Thank you for this. My wife “defeated” cancer a few months ago. This link was sent to me by Kristen’s sister, who went to college with me. And it is SO encouraging to me. To see this new family… Todd’s and Lissa’s love for each other, and even for the spouses who have lived, loved, and gone on into eternity before them… the kids’ love for each other… this new happiness, unlike either has ever experienced. This gives me hope that I might again know the joys of marriage and a “complete” family– what I’ve come to call “a little slice of heaven, here on earth”– if God is willing. And it gives me hope that my little guy could be accepting of a “new famliy”– even excited about it. Thank you for this. And God bless this beautiful new family!

–By the way, speaking of God’s working will… how cool is it that it’s Kristen’s family that was so proud and eager to share this link with me! Praise God! He is GOOD!
