We had the honor of filming Brigitte and Kevin’s wedding a few months ago. Brigitte requested that at some point throughout the day we try and get a sound byte from her Godparents – mostly because her uncle was dying of cancer and she wanted to treasure any moment she could with him.

After interviewing, her aunt grabbed my hand and pulled me in… she whispered in my ear, “He is very sick…” At this point she was squeezing my hand extremely tightly… I didn’t know what to say other than, “I know. I’m so sorry.” It was an extremely emotional moment for me and I welled up with tears. Whew. Again, I’m reminded of what real love is: Commitment. Unconditional. Deep.

And now – they have this beautiful little nugget…

We hosted our own hands-on wedding filmmaking workshop back in March to help shake some of our rust off accumulated from the “off-season” we experience only in Michigan. Wedding videography is serious business as you’ll note in the recap video.

A million thanks to The Royal Park Hotel for hosting us, thanks to our models Colleen and Rob Galacz, our makeup artist Mandi Nixx & hair by Katie McCoy, Lindsey from Flourish Event Design for the help (and the flowers!) and Miss Kate’s Maids for providing the dress Colleen wore.

We had so much fun and we’re reminded again about the importance of education, team work, and laughter. Here’s to a great 2011 season!!

Equipment used:
Canon 5D Mark2
Canon 7D
DP Slider
Glidetrack
Glidecam 4000 HD and 2000 (and an old school 4000… please don’t laugh at Miller)
Manfrotto Monopods & Tripods
ThinkTank bags

Lenses
Canon 24-70, 16-35, 50 1.4, 85 1.8, 135, 70-200 2.8, and 35 1.4
Opteka 6.5mm f3.5 fisheye that’s designed for APS-C sensors to give 167 degrees of view

Back in the fall we approached Lindsey Nartker with the idea to do a style shoot. We wanted an excuse to practice shooting – without the pressure of time working against us (perfect example: wedding day.) We are grateful for the team of people that joined us — including one of our awesome 2011 couples who served as our models: Kendall and John (and rad sister Erin!). K+J are used to smiling/laughing and being goofy all of the time – so this was quite the stretch for them, but they did a fantastic job.

We have been fortunate to have had some amazing interns over the years. Yesterday we gave our interns the task of creating a video about interns. That was the only direction we gave them – and here is what they came up with… it is nothing short of amazing.

Take two minutes from your day and enjoy this.

If you’re interested in a fall internship at Epic Motion, please contact us at intern@epicmotion.com and tell us why you’d be an awesome intern.

You may be asking yourself this question… things have been pretty quiet around the Epic Motion studio for the past couple of weeks. While they may be a little more quiet at the studio (even with Eric rocking out to his favorite Pandora mix and his ninja-naps on the couch), things are definitely louder at Ryan’s house.

Welcome Charlotte (Charlie) Rose Koral – the newest addition to the Koral clan.

Check back soon – for more super cute baby pics as well as some super cool things we’ll be announcing shortly!

A few weeks ago, Eric and I hit the streets of Royal Oak, Michigan to hear what people had to say about wedding videographers and the wedding video industry. Some of the responses may come as a surprise… and then again – some may not.

We are constantly striving to educate people about wedding and event cinema. We believe that a wedding movie can be entertaining, moving, and down right enjoyable. Wedding videos don’t have to be cheesy, outdated, and embarrassing to show to friends and family.

We believe your story is beautiful and is worth telling. Contact us to find out more.
