The snow is melting, the birds are chirping, and love is in the air. In honor of Valentine’s Day and as a way to introduce myself I decided to compile a list of my favorite love songs of all time. But then I thought about how daunting that task would be (I mean, who can write a better love song than Marvin Gaye or Sam Cooke?), so I shortened my reach and settled on my top ten favorite love songs of the 21st century. So without further ado, here they are:
Ben Folds: The Luckiest (Rocking The Suburbs, 2001)
Wilco: I’m The Man Who Loves You (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, 2002)
The Flaming Lips: Do You Realize?? (Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, 2002)
The Postal Service: Such Great Heights (Give Up, 2003)
Fruit Bats: When U Love Somebody (Mouthfuls, 2003)
The Decemberists: Red Right Ankle (Her Majesty, 2003)
Death Cab For Cutie: I Will Follow You Into The Dark (Plans, 2005)
Bright Eyes: First Day of My Life (I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning, 2005)
Band of Horses: No One’s Gonna Love You (Cease to Begin, 2007)
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros: Home (Up From Below, 2009)
Happy Valentine’s Day, you lovebirds!
