Every couple we film is really special to us is one way or another. As an editor, even though I don’t always get to meet and become friends with every couple whose wedding we film; by the time I finish their edit(s) I feel as though I know them, and I often take a piece of their story home with me in a sense.
It’s the reason why weddings are so cool for us. The thrill is not in documenting an event from the sidelines, but it’s about experiencing such a pivotal and inspiring transition in the lives of two people alongside them, and being reminded of what marriage is about. Weddings serve as a reminder for me as a husband, to love and serve my wife and care for her and not to forget about romancing her in the midst of day-to-day life. And Brittany + Corey were yet another reminder for me.
I loved the fact that they washed each other’s feet during the ceremony. It was different and it held a lot of meaning, and it was evident that Brittany + Corey really put their hearts into it. I knew I wanted to amplify that moment, and since there was music playing in the background during that part of the ceremony I couldn’t use the natural audio in the edit because it would clash with the soundtrack. So I decided I’d recreate a similar moment. I got my wife, and my H1 (audio recorder) and washed her feet to get those subtle sounds of water dripping that you hear in that part of the edit. Not only was it a way for me to really make that part of the edit exactly what I wanted it to be, but also a way for me to show Laura that I still think she’s pretty cool.
Many props to our filmmakers for this one – Stewart Smith and Eric Kmetz. Our team is really happy with how this one turned out. Here’s to hoping you love it as much as we do!
