Wedding Movies Vintage-Style: Super 8mm Demo

by Ryan on February 9, 2009

There is something fresh and hopeful that I experience when watching old home movies. Not only does it inspire those feelings but it brings a real-ness of life to the viewer . I don’t know exactly why it does this to me, but I imagine that I’m not alone.

In a world where HD and 16×9 LCD televisions are taking over, there is nothing like “home sweet home” – and that is what we are able to offer with Super 8mm film. Some call it a trend, but I like to think of it as something that is timeless. It reminds us of “growing up”… there is something so inviting about film – and I don’t mean video that has a film filter added to it – but true film… no software added effects can replace the feeling that the real thing offers.

While I am a HUGE proponent of high definition – and it’s one of the only things that I heavily encourage my clients to consider – there is nothing like the vintage feel and style that Super 8mm can do to compliment your wedding movie.

We are one of the very few videography studios in Michigan that offers Super 8mm as an upgrade. Contact us for more information: info@epicmotion.com

Oh yeah..nice to see someone picking this back up again. At our wedding in 1999, we ONLY shot silent, black and white, Super 8 (my cousin, a film cameraman, was kind enough to handle my bolex for the day)…we wanted to retain the magic of the day that only film could provide. We treasure those movies that were shot that day.

Glad to see someone reviving the art of film. Nice work!

loving it… Jose Villa shot Super 8 at our wedding 2 years ago and ever since I have been romanced by it. Great way to describe how it feels.
